A Completely Obedient Body

Mark 1:9

“At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. As Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.” At once the Spirit sent him out into the desert, and he was in the desert forty days, being tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and angels attended him.”

Now there is probably a lot that you can extract from this text, but I want to hone in on one aspect of it: “At once the Spirit sent him…”

For some reason that part of the verse really stuck out to me. I imagined what that must have looked like, being sent by the Spirit. Did it thrust each foot as if it was controlling his body, or was it that still small voice that we read about in the bible?

I then thought about Jesus having the only completely obedient body in all of human history. What would the Spirit be able to do with that? Would it be in full control, operating every aspect of Jesus’s life? I imagine that it would be.

This fresh thought inspired me to be more like Jesus, to obtain that Spirit filled body where nothing else would inhibit me from doing exactly what it wants to do. I can only imagine how powerful that would be for God’s kingdom.

Enable me to be more like Jesus, to strive for that body completely ridden of sin. You give it to me each and every time that I repent of my sins. You enable me to refresh myself with the blood of Jesus. But empower me to not recommit those sins. Lead me not into temptation. Give me a heart for God and a thirst for righteousness that far surpasses all understanding. I want you to take ahold of the Spirit inside of me and speak to it. I want to feel a resurgence of its power in my life.

Lord, as I recommit this time to you every day, make it impactful for you. Let it supernaturally strengthen my walk with you each day.

Lord, today, let your Spirit really transcend my own wants and needs. Let it pour out of me today stronger than any other day. I give this time and this day to you, in Jesus name.
